Event: Music, Magic and Mystery

Music, Magic and Mystery

Join the orchestra for a magical journey of fantasy, film, and fun in a concert for all the family. Everyone – young and old – is encouraged to dress up as their favourite fictional character, bringing along wands and a hefty dollop of imagination as the Hull Philharmonic takes you on a journey through a programme of your favourite festive music. What better way to round off the spooky Halloween season and kick off the countdown to Christmas!

Among other exciting pieces, you will enjoy Danny Elfman’s freakishly fun This is Halloween arrangement for orchestra, Mussorgsky’s perilous A Night on the Bare Mountain, as well Saint Saëns’ entrancing Danse Macabre. And, to get you in the Christmas mood, you will also hear The Snowman Suite, Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kije Suite, and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite – because Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without such much-loved melodies to jingle our musical bells! And we could hardly call the concert magical without serving up John Williams’ sparkling Symphonic Suite from Harry Potter.

The concert will be conducted by Simon Chalk who returns to the Hull Philharmonic as our newly appointed Musical Director. The orchestra will also be welcoming its new Orchestral Leader and principal violinist, Richard Quick.

This concert is the perfect way to get you and your family in the festive mood after a day of Christmas shopping, so get the date in your diary, get your tickets booked, and tell your friends!

Tickets start from £8.50 (concessions) and we are thrilled to announce that many more £15 tickets will be available for the 2023/24. Children’s tickets will be £5.
